Defence, Finance Ministries Partner to Boost Security, Economic Stability

The Federal Ministries of Defence and Finance have initiated a strategic partnership aimed at strengthening national security, economic stability, and sustainable development through closer inter-ministerial collaboration.

This development emerged following a meeting between the Minister of Defence and the Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Prof. Taiwo Oyedele, held at the Ministry of Finance in Abuja.

During the meeting, both ministers discussed the growing interdependence between national security and fiscal policy, stressing that economic prosperity can only thrive in an atmosphere of peace and stability.

The ministers noted that while a strong economy requires a secure environment to attract investment and encourage growth, effective security operations also depend on a stable and sustainable financial structure.

As part of efforts to deepen cooperation, the two ministries agreed to establish a coordinated framework that will align security operations with economic planning and national development objectives.

The partnership is expected to promote investor confidence, improve market stability, and enhance the government’s capacity to address emerging national challenges through a unified approach.

According to the ministers, the collaboration represents a significant step toward integrated governance, with both ministries committed to ensuring that economic and security policies complement one another in advancing national progress.

The meeting also provided an opportunity for the Defence Minister to congratulate Prof. Oyedele on his appointment as Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, while wishing him success in steering the nation’s economic agenda.
