NSCDC Deploys 2,150 Personnel, Assets Across Lagos for Eid-el-Kabir Security Operations

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagos State Command, has deployed a total of 2,150 officers and personnel, alongside operational assets, to strengthen security and prevent vandalism of critical national infrastructure during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

The deployment follows the Federal Government’s declaration of Wednesday, 27th May, and Thursday, 28th May, 2026, as public holidays to mark the Eid-ul-Adha celebration, as announced by the Honourable Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.

The Lagos State Commandant, Mr Adedotun Keshinro, disclosed that the proactive deployment was necessary to ensure adequate security before, during, and after the festive period, noting the expected increase in human and vehicular movement across the state.

He explained that Lagos, as a major commercial and travel hub, would witness a significant influx of visitors from within and outside the country, necessitating enhanced operational readiness to safeguard lives and property.

According to him, the Command has also strengthened its operational strategies to curb criminal activities, particularly vandalism of critical national assets and infrastructure, which could undermine economic stability and public safety.

The deployed personnel have been tasked with protecting strategic locations, facilities, rights of way, oil pipeline installations, religious centres, recreational areas, parks, and other critical infrastructure across the state.

Mr Keshinro warned that all officers and men must remain on red alert throughout the period, stressing that duties must be carried out professionally, without fear or favour, and in strict adherence to rules of engagement.

He further urged personnel to uphold discipline, respect for human rights, and professionalism while discharging their responsibilities before, during, and after the celebrations.

The Commandant also extended felicitations to Muslim faithful in Lagos State on the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir, urging them to embrace the values of sacrifice, prayer, humility, compassion, and faith as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him).

He further called on residents to use the festive period to pray for the unity, peace, and continued progress of Nigeria.

The Command encouraged members of the public to report security incidents through its official communication channels and emergency contact platforms.
