The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara State Command, has arrested two suspects in separate operations involving an alleged ₦78.3 million investment fraud linked to the PXES platform and a suspected cult related clash in Ilorin. The operations also led to the recovery of a locally fabricated pistol and mobile phones in connection with the suspected cult related case, as the Corps intensifies intelligence led efforts to combat criminal activities and protect lives and property across the state. In the investment fraud case, the Command arrested 33 year old Onwucheku Odum Umeh over allegations of cheating, fraudulent activities and obtaining money under false pretences.
The arrest followed a complaint received on September 19, 2026, and subsequent investigations into the activities of the PXES investment platform. The suspect was reportedly apprehended at about noon on October 15, 2026, in Ikeja, Lagos State, by operatives of the Command’s Tracking Unit following intelligence gathering and investigative efforts.Preliminary findings indicated that six investors had committed a combined sum of ₦78,360,709 to the investment platform. Investigators reportedly traced the account into which the funds were paid to the suspect and established a possible link between PXES and Ragekay Global Investment Limited, into whose account a substantial portion of the investors’ money was allegedly transferred.
The platform reportedly became inaccessible, leaving investors unable to access their accounts or recover their funds. The Command said investigations were continuing to determine the full extent of the alleged fraud, identify other possible victims and establish whether additional individuals were involved in the scheme.During preliminary investigations, Umeh reportedly named Khadijat Mamma Yahaya as the person who introduced him to the arrangement.
The Command said efforts were ongoing to locate her and establish her possible involvement. The NSCDC has appealed to members of the public who invested in PXES and believe they suffered financial losses to come forward with relevant evidence, including bank transfer receipts, transaction records, payment confirmations and communications with the platform. It also advised prospective investors to verify the credibility of investment operators before committing their money to any scheme. In a separate operation, the Command arrested 29 year old Oluwafemi Olarewaju in connection with a suspected cult related clash in Ilorin. Preliminary findings indicated that the suspect allegedly went to retaliate following the clash, while other persons suspected of involvement reportedly fled the scene.
A locally fabricated pistol and mobile phones were recovered during the investigation. The Command said efforts were underway to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and apprehend any other individuals found to have participated in the alleged criminal activities. The Kwara State Commandant of the NSCDC, Commandant Abbas Ndah Mohammed, reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to proactive, intelligence led operations to tackle criminal activities and strengthen security throughout the state.
He urged residents to provide timely and credible information to security agencies, noting that public cooperation remained essential to crime prevention and effective law enforcement. The Commandant assured the public that investigations into both cases were ongoing and that appropriate legal action would be taken against anyone found culpable in accordance with the law.
