By Tunji Braimoh, Abujae

Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Cross River State Command, has deployed 700 regular and tactical personnel across Calabar Metropolis and other strategic locations in the state to ensure a peaceful, safe and hitch free Eid-el-Maulud celebration.

The State Commandant, CC Okarazu Chima, disclosed this during a general muster parade held at the Command Headquarters in Calabar. He directed all officers and personnel to remain vigilant and committed to the protection of lives, property and Critical National Assets and Infrastructure before, during and after the celebration.

According to the Commandant, personnel drawn from the Armed Squad, Intelligence Department, Agro Rangers Unit and other operational units have been strategically deployed to Eid prayer grounds, markets, motor parks, recreational centres, government facilities and other vulnerable locations across the state.

Okarazu charged Area Commanders and Divisional Officers in the 18 Local Government Areas to sustain 24 hour visibility patrols, intelligence gathering and proactive security operations. He warned that criminal elements must not be allowed any opportunity to threaten public peace or disrupt the festivities.

The Commandant congratulated Muslim faithful on the occasion of Eid-el-Maulud and urged residents to emulate the virtues of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW), including peace, tolerance, unity, compassion and love for humanity. He stressed the need for citizens to continue supporting security agencies through the provision of timely and credible information.

He further assured members of the public of the Command’s readiness to work closely with other security agencies to maintain law and order throughout the celebration. He also urged residents to remain security conscious and promptly report any suspicious movements or activities to the appropriate authorities for immediate action.
