Troops of the Nigerian Army serving under the Operation Hadin Kai have successfully repelled a terrorist attack on a military location in Ngoshe, Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State, restoring control of the area after a swift counter offensive.
The terrorists launched the attack on the military position on 3 March 2026. In response, reinforcement teams from the Forward Operating Base in Pulka and the 151 Battalion were immediately deployed to support the troops defending the location.
During the reinforcement movement, the leading Mine Resistant Ambush Protected vehicle encountered an Improvised Explosive Device which damaged two of its tyres. Despite the setback, the troops continued their advance toward the location to reinforce their colleagues.
A special reinforcement team led by the Commander of the 26 Task Force Brigade in Gwoza, Brigadier General Nasirudeen Abdullahi, later arrived at the scene. The commander coordinated a counter attack that forced the terrorists to retreat from the area.
During the pursuit and exchange of fire, troops recovered three AK 47 rifles and a General Purpose Machine Gun barrel abandoned by the fleeing terrorists. The Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai also provided close air support during the operation and neutralised several of the attackers.
After the successful reoccupation of the position and a follow up sweep of the area, Brigadier General Abdullahi commended the troops for their courage and resilience. He urged them to sustain aggressive operations to further weaken terrorist elements operating in the region.
The military said troops of Operation Hadin Kai remain determined to deny terrorists freedom of action and will continue offensive operations aimed at restoring lasting peace, security, and economic stability across the North East. Troop morale remains high as operations continue.
