The Federal Fire Service has reaffirmed its commitment to improving Nigeria’s fire safety systems and strengthening national disaster preparedness through closer collaboration with international development partners.
A delegation from the Service, representing the Controller General, paid a strategic visit to the Abuja office of the World Bank. The team was led by the Federal Capital Territory Controller, CF Suleiman Muhammed Anas, alongside the National Public Relations Officer, DCF Paul Olobo Abraham.
During the meeting, the delegation held discussions with officials of the World Bank, including Senior Disaster Risk Management Specialists Mary Boyer and Francis Samson Nkoka, as well as other members of the institution’s disaster risk management team.
The discussions focused on possible areas of collaboration aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s fire safety framework, improving disaster risk management structures, and enhancing the country’s capacity for emergency preparedness and response.
Participants also stressed the importance of institutional partnerships in supporting the modernization of firefighting operations, strengthening technical capacity, and promoting knowledge exchange to improve the operational effectiveness of the Federal Fire Service.
The Service noted that strong cooperation with development partners remains essential to building national resilience, protecting lives and property, and ensuring a more coordinated response to fire outbreaks and other emergencies across Nigeria.
