TheNigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Delta State Command, has inaugurated a dedicated Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI) Monitoring and Surveillance Team as part of efforts to curb the growing menace of vandalism targeting telecommunications facilities and other strategic infrastructure across the state.

The initiative is aimed at strengthening the protection of critical national assets, particularly Base Transceiver Stations (BTS) and other essential infrastructure vital to the nation’s economic and security interests.

Speaking during the inauguration ceremony, the Delta State Commandant of the Corps, CC Chinedu Igbo Fabian, reiterated that the protection of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure remains one of the core statutory mandates of the NSCDC. He stressed the need for proactive measures to prevent vandalism, theft and other acts of economic sabotage.

According to the Commandant, safeguarding critical infrastructure is a responsibility the Corps must discharge with utmost seriousness, given its importance to national development and public safety.

He charged members of the newly inaugurated team to carry out their duties with dedication, professionalism and integrity, noting that the command would not relent in its efforts to rid Delta State of individuals and groups engaged in the destruction of critical infrastructure.

Fabian further assured residents that the command would continue to deploy intelligence-driven strategies and surveillance operations to ensure the protection of assets essential to the smooth functioning of government institutions, businesses and communities across the state.
