Troops of the 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, operating under Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke, have foiled a kidnapping attempt and rescued three victims in Taraba State.
The Army disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday by Umar Muhammad, Army Public Relations Officer, 6 Brigade Nigerian Army. According to the statement, the operation was carried out on January 5, 2026, following credible intelligence received by troops deployed in Jeb Jeb town regarding the activities of suspected kidnappers in Sangai Village, Bachama Ward, of Karim Lamido Local Government Area.
Acting swiftly on the intelligence, troops were immediately mobilised and pursued the suspects towards the border area between Taraba and Plateau States. On sighting the advancing troops, the kidnappers abandoned their captives and fled into the surrounding area.
The Army confirmed that the three victims rescued during the operation were Nimron Umar Ab (25 years), Safaras Ibrahim (20 years), and Habila Yunusa (23 years).
According to the statement, the rescued victims are currently in military custody, where they are receiving necessary care and undergoing documentation procedures. They will be reunited with their respective families upon completion of these processes.
Commending the troops for their swift response and professionalism, the Commander of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, reaffirmed the brigade’s commitment to sustaining security operations across Taraba State.
He further urged members of the public to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and credible information, noting that public cooperation remains critical to the success of ongoing military operations.
