The Nigeria Police Force on Monday held a solemn memorial service at the Force Headquarters in Abuja to honour 10 officers of the Special Intervention Squad (SIS) who lost their lives during an operation in Kebbi State.

The ceremony brought together senior police officers, family members, colleagues, and well wishers who paid tribute to the fallen personnel for their courage, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property.

Speaking during the service, police authorities described the deceased officers as gallant heroes who paid the ultimate price in the line of duty while defending the nation against criminal elements. The Force reaffirmed its commitment to preserving the memories of the fallen officers and supporting their families during this difficult period.

Prayers were offered for the repose of the souls of the deceased officers, while tributes highlighted their professionalism, dedication, and exemplary service to the country. The event also served as a moment of reflection on the dangers faced daily by security personnel in the discharge of their responsibilities.

The Inspector General of Police reiterated the determination of the Nigeria Police Force to sustain ongoing efforts to combat insecurity across the country, stressing that the sacrifice of the fallen officers would not be in vain. He assured that the Force would continue to strengthen operational capabilities and enhance the welfare of personnel serving in high risk environments.

The memorial service underscored the deep sense of loss within the police community while reinforcing the institution’s resolve to honour the legacy of officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the nation.

The Nigeria Police Force further called on citizens to support security agencies through timely information sharing and cooperation, noting that collective efforts remain essential in the fight against crime and other security challenges confronting the country.
