The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nasarawa State Command, has deployed 1,867 personnel across the state to ensure the safety of lives and property before, during and after the Eid-el-Maulud celebration.

The deployment was approved by the State Commandant, Commandant Brah Samson Umoru, as part of measures aimed at providing a secure and peaceful atmosphere for Muslim faithful and other residents commemorating the birth of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

According to the Command, the officers and men have been strategically positioned at worship centres, major highways, public facilities, recreational centres, government establishments, Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI), and other identified vulnerable locations across the state.

Commandant Umoru charged all deployed personnel to demonstrate a high level of professionalism, vigilance and discipline while carrying out their responsibilities, stressing the need to uphold the Corps’ mandate of protecting lives and property.

He also directed Area Commanders and Divisional Officers to intensify surveillance operations within their jurisdictions and maintain effective collaboration with other security agencies and relevant stakeholders to prevent security breaches and ensure a swift response to any emerging threats.

The Commandant emphasized the importance of intelligence gathering and community engagement, urging officers to remain alert and proactive throughout the festive period to guarantee a peaceful environment for residents.

While felicitating with Muslim faithful on the occasion of Eid-el-Maulud, Commandant Umoru called on citizens to celebrate responsibly and in accordance with the law. He urged members of the public to remain security conscious and promptly report suspicious movements, individuals or activities to the nearest security agency.

He reassured the people of Nasarawa State of the Command’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives, property and Critical National Assets and Infrastructure throughout the celebration and beyond.

The NSCDC boss further stated that adequate operational logistics and monitoring mechanisms have been put in place to support the deployment and enhance the effectiveness of personnel across the state.

The deployment forms part of the Command’s proactive security strategy aimed at ensuring a peaceful, orderly and crime-free Eid-el-Maulud celebration for all residents of Nasarawa State.
