Vigilante arrest suspected car thief in Delta

Vigilante members at Marine Quarters in Warri, Delta State, on Friday morning, arrested a suspected thief identified as Simple, who allegedly broke into a Lexus car parked by the road side at Gbiaye Street off 3rd Marine Gate.

The suspect, a former vigilante member in the area, was caught in the act after he broke the back windscreen of the vehicle.

He was tied to the ground and given the beating of his life.

When interrogated, the suspect said pressure made him to steal saying, “I feel very much ashamed of myself now.”

The suspect is still currently held by the vigilante who are waiting for the police to come and take him for further interrogation and possible prosecution.

Only last week, suspected thieves broke into the secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Warri Correspondents’ Chapel and stole expensive cables connected to its diesel-powered generator in the same Gbiaye Street.
