The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Osun State Command, has called on residents of the state to remain vigilant, security conscious and adequately prepared as the Ember Months approach and the year gradually draws to a close.
The State Commandant, Commandant Toma Enya, made the appeal through the Area Commander, Area I, Gbongan, Assistant Commandant of Corps (ACC) Fadare Francis, during the Command’s weekly radio programme, The Defender, aired on Living Spring 104.5 FM.
Speaking on the programme, ACC Fadare urged members of the public to adopt a proactive security mindset and avoid actions that could expose them to criminal activities often associated with the Ember Months. He stressed the importance of promptly reporting suspicious movements, persons and activities to the appropriate security agencies for swift intervention.
The discussion, which focused on the mandates of the NSCDC and security preparedness during the Ember Months, also highlighted the need to protect Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI) from vandalism, theft and other forms of sabotage.
ACC Fadare specifically cautioned scrap dealers and members of the public against purchasing or receiving suspected stolen government property, including metal components and infrastructure materials. He urged residents to report anyone attempting to sell such items to security agencies without delay.
He assured the people of Osun State that the NSCDC remains fully committed to protecting lives, property and critical infrastructure across the state, while strengthening collaboration with communities to ensure a safe and peaceful festive period.
