The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nasarawa State Command, has arrested Salihu Ahmadu, popularly known as “Officer” or “Boss,” the alleged leader of a motorcycle theft syndicate operating within Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital.

The arrest was the result of sustained intelligence gathering and coordinated follow up operations carried out by personnel of the Corps under the leadership of the State Commandant, Commandant Brah Samson Umoru.

It will be recalled that during the parade of suspects conducted by the command on August 14, 2026, in connection with the activities of a suspected motorcycle theft syndicate in Lafia metropolis, Salihu Ahmadu was identified as the alleged kingpin who had evaded arrest and remained at large.

Determined to ensure that all individuals linked to the criminal network were brought to justice, the command intensified its intelligence led operations and surveillance activities. These efforts eventually led to the successful arrest of the suspect on September 8, 2026, in the Gandu area near the Federal University of Lafia (FULAFIA).

Commending the personnel involved in the operation, Commandant Umoru praised their dedication, vigilance and professionalism, noting that their efforts demonstrate the Corps’ unwavering commitment to tracking down and apprehending criminal suspects regardless of how long they evade arrest.

The Commandant assured residents of Nasarawa State that the NSCDC would continue to deploy intelligence driven strategies, strengthen community partnerships and sustain proactive security operations aimed at identifying, disrupting and dismantling criminal networks across the state.

He disclosed that the suspect would be arraigned before a court of competent jurisdiction alongside other members of the syndicate already in custody to face prosecution in accordance with the law.

The NSCDC therefore called on members of the public to continue supporting security agencies by providing credible and timely information that will assist in preventing crime and enhancing public safety throughout Nasarawa State.

The command reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property and ensuring that criminal elements have no safe haven within the state.
