Customs unveil new facilities at Seme

The Nigeria Customs Service, Seme Area Command, has commissioned a newly renovated senior officers’ mess, gym house, and an office complex of the Customs Officers’ Wives Association at the command.

This was contained in a statement on Wednesday by the command’s public relations officer, Isah Suleiman.

Speaking during the unveiling at the command, the Customs Area Controller in charge of the command, Dr Ben Oramalugo, described the project as a landmark for the command.

Oramalugo added that the command is deeply honoured to have the Comptroller General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, personally grace the occasion, stressing that the CGC ‘s presence was a testament to his unwavering commitment to the welfare of the officers and the progress of the NCS.

He said, “Today’s event is more than the unveiling of physical structures; it is a celebration of our resolved commitment to teamwork and dedication. The renovated officers’ mess stands as a symbol of our commitment to improving the welfare and morale of our personnel, providing more conducive space for relaxation, camaraderie, and professional bonding.”

According to him, the new COWA Office represents the command’s recognition of the invaluable contributions of the association in supporting the officers, fostering community development, and promoting the well-being of families within the command.

He commended officers and men of the command for their efforts and relentless dedication to duty, stressing that it created the foundation for such achievements.

“Your professionalism in revenue generation, trade facilitation, and the suppression of smuggling has not only strengthened our command but also contributed significantly to national economic development,” he stated.

Oramalugo urged all officers to see the facilities as tools to enhance service delivery.

“Let the renovated officers’ mess be a place where we forge stronger bonds and renew our commitment to the core mandates of the NCS,” he concluded.
