The Chief of Army Staff ( COAS) Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede has stated that the COAS special intervention civil-military cooperation projects remain a cornerstone of the Nigerian Army’s efforts to foster public support, enhance cooperation and sustain a harmonious interaction between the Army and the civilian populace.

The COAS who was represented by the Commander Infantry Corps Major General Abdul Ibrahim stated this during the commissioning ceremony of the COAS community-based intervention projects executed by Major General S Nuhu on Monday 24 February 2024 at Nuhu Bamali Primary School, Fadi Sonka Kwabai, Zaria.

The projects were the renovation and furnishings of some selected classrooms, the revamping of a block of six toilets and the construction of a solar-powered borehole in the school to cater for the toilets’ water system and the immediate community.

Lieutenant General Oluyede added that the initiative was geared towards complementing the infrastructural development efforts of government, particularly for communities tied to senior officers of the Nigerian Army who, through their exemplary and selfless service, have risen to the prestigious rank of Major General.

He said the gesture was in appreciation of the people of Zaria for availing the nation the service of their son while exploring the Nigerian Army’s non-kinetic lines of operation to galvanize public support in line with its mandate, extending his heartfelt appreciation to Major General S Nuhu, the community leaders and the school management for their collaborative efforts in delivering these impactful projects.

The COAS urged the community to take full ownership of the facility and ensure its maintenance for long-term use.

Dignitaries that graced the ceremony were His Royal Highness, the Emir of Zazzau, Ambassador Ahmed Nuhu Bamali, Chief of Civil Military Affairs (Army) Major General GU Chibuisi, GOC 1 Division, Major General MLD Saraso. Commandants of Depot NA and Nigerian Army School of Infantry, Major General Ahmadu Mohammed and Major General Frank Etim respectively, among many others.
