The Ondo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has presented certificates to 30 students of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) following the successful completion of their three-month Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) programme with the Command.
The certificates were presented by the State Commandant, Oluyemi Ibiloye, during a closing ceremony organised to celebrate the students’ participation, commitment, and performance throughout the mentorship programme.
As part of the programme, the students made presentations on several contemporary security-related issues. The topics included the use of Generative Artificial Intelligence in internal fraud and its ethical implications, the growing challenges of prostitution, human trafficking, and baby factories in Nigeria, as well as their impact on national security.
Other presentations focused on the role of law enforcement agencies in preventing and addressing gender-based violence, the application of crime records in predictive intelligence for effective law enforcement, and strategic security measures for improving safety at the Federal University Oye-Ekiti.
Speaking at the event, Commandant Ibiloye commended the students for their discipline, dedication, and intellectual contributions during their attachment period. He encouraged them to uphold professionalism and remain committed to national development and service.
In recognition of exceptional performance, Peter Mary Ayomide and Sunday David emerged as the best overall students during the mentorship programme, while Ogbaji Esther and Oke Sinmisola Faith received awards for delivering the best presentations.
The students also voted the Gender Unit and the Anti-Fraud Unit as the best-performing units in the Command during their industrial training attachment.
