The Gombe State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested five suspects allegedly linked to separate criminal syndicates involved in motorcycle theft, burglary, and the stealing of mobile phones and electronic gadgets across the state.
According to the Command, the arrests followed a series of intelligence-driven operations and patrol activities aimed at curbing rising criminal activities within parts of the state.
One of the suspects, 19-year-old Haruna Hamman from Billiri Local Government Area, was alleged to have stolen a Boxer motorcycle belonging to Adamu Buba of Lodongor on April 15, 2026, at about midnight. The motorcycle was reportedly stolen from the residence of Jauro Buba in Billiri before it was later recovered by NSCDC patrol operatives in Gombe Local Government Area on the same day.
Another suspect, Nura Adamu, 29, a resident of Bambam in Balanga Local Government Area, was apprehended in possession of a stolen Jinchen Kasea motorcycle belonging to Victor Thomas of Tumfure in Akko Local Government Area. Investigations revealed that the motorcycle allegedly changed hands through a chain of transactions involving other suspects currently under investigation.
The Command also arrested Ishiyaka Ahmed, 20, of Arawa B in Gombe, over an alleged burglary incident that occurred in February 2026. The suspect was accused of breaking into the residence of Mubarak Salihu while the owner was away and making away with two laptops, two internet routers, and three power banks. During interrogation, the suspect reportedly confessed to the crime and identified another accomplice, Amir of Arawa B, who is currently at large.
The NSCDC said investigations are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing suspects connected to the various cases, including the prime suspect linked to the stolen Jinchen Kasea motorcycle. The Command added that suspects currently in custody would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
The State Commandant, Jibrin Idris, reaffirmed the Command’s determination to rid the state of criminal elements and ensure the safety of residents. He urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements and activities to security agencies.
