The Nigeria Union of Journalists FCT Council has formally endorsed a new publication titled “The Defender of the Nation: President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Three Year Onslaught Against Insecurity… His Tough Decisions, Sacrifices, and Gains,” describing it as a significant contribution to national security discourse and governance documentation in Nigeria.
The book is authored by Isiaka Mustapha, who also serves as the Chief Operating Officer and Editor-in-Chief of People’s Security Monitor. The 21 chapter publication is positioned as an in depth analytical account of Nigeria’s ongoing efforts to confront complex security challenges under the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
At its core, the publication provides a structured examination of the government’s security strategies nearly three years ago, including counter terrorism operations, anti banditry campaigns, intelligence reforms, and inter agency coordination efforts designed to stabilise affected regions across the country.
The book further evaluates the difficult policy decisions taken by the administration, the operational sacrifices made by security personnel, and the evolving gains recorded in the fight against insecurity. It presents a narrative that combines policy analysis with field based security reporting.
Analysts note that the publication attempts to balance institutional achievements with persistent challenges, offering readers a broader understanding of Nigeria’s security architecture, its operational constraints, and the strategic responses deployed in high risk environments.
A key highlight of the forthcoming public engagement is the endorsement letter issued by the Nigeria Union of Journalists FCT Council, signed by its chairman, Comrade Grace Ike, which commends the author’s dedication to documenting critical national issues.
The letter stated: “We commend your commitment to documenting critical national issues, particularly in the area of security, which remains central to Nigeria’s stability and development. The Council is pleased to formally endorse this important publication and its forthcoming public presentation.”
It further noted: “We are confident that this work represents a well researched and comprehensive effort, reflecting your depth of experience and professionalism as one of the leading security journalists in Nigeria. The focus of the book aligns with the responsibility of the media to inform, educate, and promote constructive national discourse on governance and security matters.”
The endorsement has been widely interpreted within media and policy circles as a strong validation of the author’s contribution to security journalism and national policy documentation, reinforcing the relevance of structured media engagement in governance oversight.
Meanwhile, preparations are in top gear for the public presentation of the book, which will be led by the Defence Minister, General Christopher Musa (rtd). The event is expected to form a cardinal highlight of this year’s People’s Security Monitor Annual Conference.
The conference is scheduled to hold on Thursday, 4 June 2026, at the auditorium of the Nigerian National Merit Award House, Maitama, Abuja, bringing together security stakeholders, policymakers, diplomats, and media practitioners for high level discussions on Nigeria’s evolving security landscape and governance priorities.
