The Controller General of the Federal Fire Service (FFS), CGF Olumode Adeyemi Samuel, has expressed deep appreciation to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for its unwavering support in protecting critical national infrastructure and providing security escorts during fire operations.
Speaking during a courtesy visit to the Commandant General of the NSCDC, Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, at the Corps Headquarters in Abuja, the CGF commended the NSCDC for its crucial role in ensuring the safety of fire trucks, personnel, and operational activities during emergencies.
He emphasized the need to strengthen collaboration between the two agencies, calling for enhanced synergy, joint capacity-building programs, and coordinated efforts to improve national emergency response. CGF Olumode also requested ongoing security support for firemen and operational assets, alongside joint training in safety and field coordination.
Highlighting the NSCDC’s proactive approach to internal safety, the CGF praised the Corps for maintaining fire cover within its facilities, noting it as a demonstration of exemplary preparedness and property protection. He further stressed the Federal Fire Service’s readiness to leverage the NSCDC’s experience and leadership discipline to achieve shared institutional goals.
In response, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi warmly welcomed the CGF and his team, congratulating him on his appointment. He described the leadership role as a sacred trust, noting that “leadership is transient, and power is a loan.” He encouraged the CGF to balance “need and greed,” prioritize personnel welfare, and lead with humility and emotional intelligence.
Dr. Audi also commended the Federal Fire Service for promoting gender inclusivity among its workforce, describing it as a positive step toward inclusive public service. He assured the CGF of the NSCDC’s continued cooperation and armed security support for fire operations across the country.
