The Sokoto State Government has donated four operational vehicles and five motorcycles to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in a move aimed at strengthening security operations and enhancing the agency’s capacity to respond swiftly to threats across the state.

Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto presented the vehicles and motorcycles to the Sokoto State Command of the NSCDC on Monday at the Government House in Sokoto, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to supporting security agencies with the logistics needed to safeguard lives and property.

The donation forms part of the state’s efforts to deepen collaboration with security agencies and bolster the security architecture of Sokoto State amid ongoing efforts to tackle crime and other security challenges.

The assets handed over to the corps include a Toyota Buffalo Bulletproof vehicle, a Toyota Buffalo VINI vehicle, two Toyota Buffalo operational vehicles, and five Bajaj motorcycles.

Speaking after receiving the equipment, the Sokoto State Commandant of the NSCDC, CC E.A. Ajayi, commended the governor for the support, describing the gesture as a significant contribution to the operational effectiveness of the command.

Ajayi said the vehicles and motorcycles would improve the mobility of personnel, strengthen patrol operations, expand the command’s operational reach, and enhance rapid response to security incidents in different parts of the state.

According to him, the donation demonstrates the confidence reposed in the corps by the state government and underscores the importance of collective efforts in addressing security challenges.

The commandant assured the government and residents that the newly acquired assets would be deployed judiciously to support surveillance activities, intelligence-led operations, and emergency response missions.

He reiterated the commitment of the NSCDC to protecting critical national assets and infrastructure while working closely with other security agencies to maintain peace and public safety.

Ajayi also appealed to corporate organisations, development partners, traditional institutions, and members of the public to support security agencies, noting that sustainable security can only be achieved through broad-based collaboration.

He stressed that the fight against crime requires the active participation of all stakeholders, including government institutions, private organisations, and local communities.

The commandant further praised Governor Ahmed Aliyu for prioritising security and providing the resources necessary to strengthen the operational readiness of security personnel in the state.

He noted that protecting lives, property, and public infrastructure remains a shared responsibility and called for continued vigilance and cooperation among residents.

The NSCDC Sokoto State Command reaffirmed its resolve to sustain its partnership with the state government and other stakeholders in promoting peace, stability, and development.

Observers say the donation is expected to significantly improve the command’s operational efficiency and support ongoing efforts to combat criminal activities and maintain law and order across Sokoto State.
