The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a suspect, identified as Abubakar Musa, in connection with the alleged killing of a 30-year-old resident of Jambutu Ward in Yola North Local Government Area, Nathaniel Yusuf.

The arrest followed a complaint lodged at the Divisional Police Headquarters in Kofare by Grace Yusuf, the deceased’s sister, who reported that her brother had been violently attacked by the suspect.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, disclosed the development in a statement issued on Monday.

According to the statement, police operatives responded immediately after receiving the distress report, proceeded to the scene of the incident, rescued the victim, and rushed him to the Specialist Hospital in Jimeta for emergency treatment.

The suspect was also apprehended at the scene and taken into custody for further investigation.

Preliminary findings by investigators revealed that the victim allegedly sustained severe injuries, including fractures to both legs, his right hand, and head, after being attacked with a stick.

Despite efforts by medical personnel to save his life, Nathaniel Yusuf later died while receiving treatment at the hospital.

Following the incident, the Commissioner of Police in Adamawa State, CP Kabiru Hassan, directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Yola to take over the case for a comprehensive investigation.

The police authorities stated that the suspect would be prosecuted in accordance with the law if found culpable at the conclusion of the investigation.

The body of the deceased has been deposited at the hospital for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.

The command noted that investigations are ongoing to establish all the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The Adamawa State Police Command reiterated its commitment to ensuring justice in the matter and maintaining law and order across the state.

It also urged residents to remain peaceful, law-abiding, and continue providing credible information that could assist security agencies in combating crime and supporting ongoing investigations.
