Troops of Sector 1, Operation HADIN KAI, have dealt a major blow to suspected terrorist logistics operations in Borno State, arresting six suspects and recovering a large cache of materials believed to be destined for insurgent groups operating in the North-East.

The operation, which was based on credible intelligence, was carried out on July 19, 2026, along a route allegedly used by terrorist logistics suppliers. Acting on intelligence reports, troops mounted a coordinated stop-and-search operation that led to the interception of five vehicles conveying a substantial consignment of supplies. Six suspects were subsequently arrested during the operation.

Military authorities disclosed that the recovered items included 202 cartons of herbicides, a jerrycan containing a substance suspected to be acid, a Starlink satellite internet communication system, six bags of NPK fertilizer, 10 bags of rice, 50 hoes, and 20 packs of knapsack sprayers.

According to the military, preliminary investigations suggest that the materials could have been intended to support terrorist operations through logistics, communications, mobility, and sustenance activities.

Security officials noted that some of the recovered items, particularly the NPK fertilizer and the suspected acid, possess dual-use characteristics and could potentially be exploited for the production of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).

The seized materials have therefore been earmarked for further technical and forensic examination to determine their exact composition and intended purpose.

Military authorities described the operation as a significant success in ongoing efforts to disrupt the supply networks that sustain terrorist activities across the North-East.

The six suspects, alongside the recovered materials, have been handed over to the appropriate Military Intelligence Regiment for detailed investigation.

Investigators are expected to establish the intended recipients of the supplies, uncover the broader logistics network behind the operation, and identify other individuals involved in financing or facilitating terrorist activities.

Operation HADIN KAI stated that recent intelligence gathered from rescued hostages and surrendered families of former insurgents indicates that sustained military pressure on terrorist supply chains is having a significant impact on insurgent groups.

According to the debriefings, many terrorist elements are experiencing severe shortages of food, medical supplies, communication equipment, and other essential resources required to sustain their operations.

The shortages, military authorities said, have contributed to the abandonment of camps, the release of some captives, and the surrender of several insurgents in recent months.

Security analysts have long identified logistics and supply networks as critical components of insurgent operations, making their disruption a key objective in counter-terrorism campaigns.

The military reiterated its commitment to intensifying intelligence-driven operations aimed at dismantling terrorist infrastructure, financial networks, and supply chains across the theatre of operations.

Operation HADIN KAI further pledged to continue targeting terrorists, their financiers, logistics suppliers, informants, and collaborators in order to deny them the resources needed to sustain violent activities.

The military emphasized that the degradation of terrorist logistics capabilities remains central to ongoing efforts to weaken insurgent groups and restore stability to affected communities.

Residents across the North-East were also urged to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and credible information on suspicious movements, individuals, and activities within their communities.

According to military authorities, public cooperation remains indispensable to the success of counter-terrorism operations and the broader goal of achieving lasting peace and security in the region.
