NSCDC Arrests Suspected Marijuana Dealer, Hands Over to NDLEA in Kano

The Kano State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has arrested a suspected marijuana dealer and handed him over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency for further investigation and prosecution.

The State Commandant of the Corps, Commandant Bala Bawa Bodinga, disclosed this while briefing journalists at the NSCDC State Headquarters in Kano. He said the arrest was part of the Corps’ renewed efforts to rid the state of criminal elements and drug traffickers.

According to him, the arrest took place on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at about 2:30 a.m., when operatives of the NSCDC Doguwa Division, acting on credible intelligence, intercepted a motorbike carrying three suspects allegedly involved in drug trafficking.

The suspects were identified as Yusuf Alasan, 25, a resident of Doguwa town, and two others, Muktar Musa and Musa Sani. They were reportedly conveying three large sugar-sized sacks filled with marijuana, commonly known as Indian hemp or Wiwi, from Doguwa town to Kafau in Doguwa Local Government Area. The interception occurred at Riruwai Gate within the same local government.

Commandant Bodinga said preliminary investigations have been concluded by the Corps, and in line with inter-agency collaboration, the suspects and the recovered exhibits have been handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Kano State Command, for further investigation and necessary legal action.

He reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment under his leadership to ensure total protection of all critical national assets and infrastructure in Kano State, as well as to sustain strong synergy with other security agencies in combating crime and safeguarding lives and property.

Bodinga also appreciated the media for their consistent support and called for continued collaboration in promoting public safety and awareness.
