The Controller General of the Federal Fire Service (FFS), Olumode Adeyemi Samuel, has boosted the morale of officers and men during a landmark working visit to the Kubwa Abuja Metropolitan Station and Wuse Command in Abuja.
The visit, described as the first of its kind in the Service’s history, allowed the CG to interact directly with personnel, assess their work environment, and inspect facilities to identify areas needing improvement and strengthen operational efficiency.
In his address, CG Olumode reaffirmed his commitment to the welfare of fire officers, emphasizing that they remain central to the Service’s core mission of saving lives and property. He announced plans to introduce comprehensive insurance coverage, performance-based awards, and welfare loans to support officers and recognize excellence.
He further pledged to provide a more conducive working environment, while urging officers to uphold professionalism and discipline, warning that anyone involved in job racketeering or misconduct would face strict disciplinary measures.
Looking ahead, the Controller General revealed plans to integrate fire safety and rescue education into the school curriculum to nurture a new generation of safety-conscious Nigerians.
The visit ended on an uplifting note, as officers of the Abuja Commands expressed appreciation for the CG’s visit, describing it as a major morale booster and a clear signal of ongoing reforms, improved welfare, and renewed commitment to service excellence within the Federal Fire Service.
