e Controller-General of the Federal Fire Service (FFS), Olumode Samuel Adeyemi, has commended officers and men of the Federal Fire Service, Edo State Command, for their prompt, professional, and courageous response to the aircraft runway excursion involving an Enugu Air flight at Benin Airport on Thursday.

The aircraft, which was carrying 63 passengers and five crew members, reportedly veered off the runway shortly after landing. However, the swift and coordinated intervention of the Federal Fire Service, working alongside other emergency response agencies, ensured the safe evacuation of all passengers and crew members without any casualties.

Reacting to the incident, the Controller-General expressed gratitude that the situation was effectively managed and brought under control without loss of life. He congratulated the passengers and crew on their safe evacuation and commended all emergency responders whose timely actions helped prevent a potential tragedy.

Adeyemi also lauded the strong collaboration between the Federal Fire Service, airport authorities, and other emergency management agencies, describing the operation as a testament to the importance of preparedness, professionalism, and effective inter-agency cooperation in handling emergencies.

According to him, the successful rescue operation underscores the Federal Fire Service’s commitment to safeguarding lives, property, and critical national infrastructure through rapid emergency response, operational efficiency, and continuous preparedness.

“The prompt response displayed by our personnel reflects the high level of training, dedication, and readiness that the Federal Fire Service continues to uphold in the discharge of its responsibilities,” he said.

The Controller-General further urged firefighters across the country to remain committed to excellence, maintain the highest standards of professionalism, and continue to respond swiftly and effectively whenever emergencies occur.

He also appealed to members of the public to remain calm during emergencies, cooperate fully with rescue agencies, refrain from spreading unverified information, and strictly follow safety directives issued by emergency responders.
