The World Fire Congress (WFC) concluded on a high note with a historic closing ceremony during which representatives of participating nations formally signed the World Fire Congress Founding Principles, setting the stage for stronger international collaboration in fire prevention, emergency response and disaster risk management.

The signing ceremony underscored a collective resolve among member countries to deepen cooperation, share best practices and strengthen global efforts aimed at improving fire safety standards and protecting lives and property across borders.

Delegates described the adoption of the Founding Principles as a significant milestone in the advancement of global fire governance, noting that the agreement provides a framework for enhanced partnerships, knowledge exchange and coordinated action among fire and rescue organisations worldwide.

The Congress also served as a platform for discussions on emerging fire risks, climate related emergencies, technological innovations and strategies for improving preparedness and response capabilities in both developed and developing nations.

Participants reaffirmed their commitment to promoting community resilience through effective fire prevention campaigns, capacity building initiatives and investments in modern firefighting equipment and infrastructure.

The Federal Fire Service joined other member nations in endorsing the Founding Principles, reiterating its dedication to the objectives of the World Fire Congress and its determination to contribute meaningfully to global efforts aimed at safeguarding lives, property and the environment.

Officials of the Service noted that Nigeria remains committed to strengthening international partnerships that will enhance operational efficiency, improve professional standards and support the development of a safer and more resilient society.

The successful conclusion of the Congress is expected to usher in a new era of cooperation among fire services worldwide, with member nations pledging to work collectively towards reducing fire related incidents and improving emergency response systems for the benefit of communities across the globe.
