The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Delta State Command, has reaffirmed its commitment to deepening collaboration with the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) in the collective fight against corruption and related offences.

The assurance was given when the Acting Resident Anti-Corruption Commissioner (RACC) of the ICPC in Delta State, Mr. Livinus Edor, led a delegation of the commission’s management team on a courtesy and familiarisation visit to the NSCDC State Command Headquarters in Asaba.

During the visit, Mr. Edor emphasized the need for stronger cooperation between both agencies, particularly in the areas of intelligence sharing, surveillance, vetting, and operational support, to enhance efforts aimed at combating corruption across the country.

According to him, the visit was intended to consolidate the longstanding relationship between the ICPC and the NSCDC while exploring new avenues for effective collaboration.

“NSCDC has remained a dependable partner in the discharge of our constitutional mandate to combat corruption. We must continue to build a stronger bond through strategic intelligence sharing, surveillance, vetting processes, and operational support to effectively tackle corruption and related crimes,” he stated.

Responding, the Delta State Commandant of the NSCDC, Commandant Chinedu, welcomed the ICPC delegation and described corruption as a major threat to national security, capable of undermining the nation’s stability, economic growth, and sovereignty.

He reiterated the Corps’ commitment to supporting the ICPC in the execution of its statutory responsibilities, stressing that inter-agency collaboration remains critical to achieving meaningful results in the anti-corruption campaign.

The Commandant further highlighted the role of the NSCDC’s Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU), which was established to promote integrity, accountability, and ethical conduct within public institutions.

He explained that the unit works closely with the ICPC to detect and prevent corrupt practices while ensuring that public resources are judiciously utilized for their intended purposes.

Commandant Chinedu assured the visiting delegation that the Delta State Command would continue to provide the necessary operational and intelligence support required to strengthen anti-corruption efforts and promote transparency, accountability, and good governance.

The visit concluded with both agencies reaffirming their resolve to sustain a productive partnership aimed at curbing corruption and advancing national development.
