Nigerian Navy Announces Recruitment for Basic Training School Batch 38

The Nigerian Navy has officially declared the commencement of its Basic Training School (BTS) Batch 38 recruitment exercise, which will run from October 2 to October 31, 2025. The Navy emphasized that the application process is free, and all submissions must be made online via the official portal: www.joinnigeriannavy.navy.mil.ng. Successful applicants will undergo basic military training before being enlisted as Ordinary Seamen.

Eligibility is strictly limited to Nigerian citizens by birth with valid National Identification Numbers (NIN). Applicants must have no criminal record and must not belong to any secret cult, fraternity, or unlawful society. The Navy outlined specific educational and age requirements: candidates with O’level results must be between 18 and 22 years by December 31, 2025; those with OND/NCE qualifications must be aged 18 to 26; while Chaplain/Imam Assistants and Drivers/Mechanics are expected to be within 18 to 28 years. In every case, applicants must possess at least five credits, including English Language and Mathematics, in no more than two sittings of WAEC, NECO, GCE, or NABTEB, with certificates not older than 2015.

Applicants for professional roles such as Medical Assistants and Nurses are required to present proof of registration with relevant professional bodies. Candidates in technical trades—such as tailoring, plumbing, carpentry, welding, and electrical works—must provide valid Trade Test certificates alongside their academic results. Sportsmen and women are also encouraged to apply but must show evidence of their achievements through medals and certificates. The Navy has scheduled the recruitment examination for November 29, 2025, at designated centers nationwide. All candidates are expected to appear with their Attestation Forms, duly signed and accompanied by the passport photograph of the signer, as well as valid identification. Multiple applications will result in automatic disqualification, and inquiries are to be directed strictly through official channels provided on the portal.
