The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, is currently attending the 27th INTERPOL African Regional Conference in South Africa — a strategic gathering aimed at deepening international collaboration in combating transnational crime and enhancing global policing efforts.
The high-level event has convened over 200 Police Chiefs and security leaders from 56 countries, along with senior law enforcement officials and security experts from across Africa and beyond. The IGP is actively engaging in discussions on contemporary security threats, intelligence-sharing frameworks, and strategies to improve cross-border policing and operational coordination.
As part of his contributions to the conference, the IGP is scheduled to deliver a key address titled “Cattle Theft in West Africa: A Conduit for Terrorism and CBRNE Threats.” His presentation will highlight the links between transnational organized crime, terrorism financing, and the rising threat of chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive (CBRNE) risks within the West African sub-region.
In addition to participating in plenary sessions, IGP Egbetokun will hold strategic bilateral meetings with the President of INTERPOL, Major General Ahmed Naser Al-Raisi, and INTERPOL Secretary General, Mr. Valdecy Urquiza. These meetings will focus on strengthening operational partnerships, enhancing intelligence exchange, fostering mutual legal assistance, and reaffirming Nigeria’s commitment to regional and international security collaboration.
The Nigeria Police Force remains resolute in its role as a dependable partner in global law enforcement, committed to protecting lives and property both within the country and on the international stage.
