Interior Minister Decorates 22 Newly Promoted ACGs, Urges Dedication to National Service

The Honourable Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has urged the 22 newly promoted Assistant Commandants General (ACGs) of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to justify their elevation through renewed commitment, patriotism, fairness, and integrity in the discharge of their duties.

Represented by the Secretary of the Civil Defence, Fire, Correctional and Immigration Services Board (CDFIB), Major General Abdulmalik Jubril (Rtd), the Minister emphasized that promotion comes with greater responsibility and accountability. He called on the senior officers to lead by example and mentor the next generation to uphold the legacies of the Corps.

In his remarks, the NSCDC Commandant General, Prof. Abubakar Ahmed Audi, mni, OFR, advised the officers to remain steadfast, loyal, and professional in addressing emerging security threats. He applauded the Minister’s reforms, which cleared long-standing promotion backlogs, improved personnel welfare, and strengthened inter-agency collaboration.

The event also featured goodwill messages from heads of other paramilitary agencies, represented by their delegates, as well as the administration of the Oath of Allegiance by the Corps’ Legal Commandant, Bamiyo Akomolafe.

In a related development, the Commandant General presented cheques worth ₦5 million to the next of kin of two fallen personnel—CCA Anyamele Justice and AIC Bello Bako Musa—who lost their lives during “Operation Plug” in Obiakpu Village, Abia State, on 25th February 2025. The gesture, he said, underscores the Corps’ commitment to the welfare of officers and their families.
