The Nigerian Army has officially moved its Special Forces Training School from Buni Yadi in Yobe State to Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, in a strategic effort to strengthen training and operational capacity of its elite troops.
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, announced the relocation during the foundation-laying ceremony and inauguration of new facilities at the 4 Special Forces Command in Doma.
According to him, the decision was taken to provide a safer and more conducive environment for advanced training, enabling personnel to acquire the skills needed to confront today’s complex security challenges.
“The relocation is designed to create an ideal environment for training our special forces and equipping them with the competencies required for the peculiar nature of their missions,” Oluyede said. He noted that the institution is envisioned to become a hub of excellence and professionalism, preparing future generations of officers to excel as part of the “elite and unconquerable force” of the Nigerian Army.
Oluyede added that since assuming office, one of his top priorities has been to ensure that Nigerian troops receive training comparable to global standards. He stressed that the facility would further enhance the Army’s capacity to respond effectively to evolving threats.
“My visit is not just to lay the foundation for new structures, but to lay the groundwork for a legacy of excellence, bravery and sacrifice,” he said, while reaffirming his commitment to improving the welfare of troops and their families.
He commended the personnel of the Special Forces Command for their dedication, urging them to maintain professionalism and resilience in their operations. The COAS also expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu and Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State for their support in strengthening national security.
Commander of the 4 Special Forces, Hilary Nzan, described the relocation as a milestone that will enhance morale, improve training, and create an enabling environment for effective performance. “As direct beneficiaries, we have taken ownership and will use the facility responsibly with dedication to achieve the desired results,” he stated.
