As part of ongoing efforts to ensure the security of lives, property, and the integrity of the electoral process, the State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Jigawa State Command, Commandant Bala Bawa Bodinga, on 15th day of August, 2025 played host to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) National Commissioner representing Jigawa, Kano, and Katsina States, Prof. Abdullahi Zuru, at the State Headquarters, Dutse.
The meeting, held ahead of the Babura/Garki Federal Constituency by-election, focused on strengthening inter-agency cooperation, strategic planning, and operational readiness to deliver a peaceful, free, fair, and credible election.
During the engagement, Prof. Zuru lauded the professionalism and steadfastness of the Corps, particularly its role in safeguarding critical electoral infrastructure and maintaining public order. He emphasized the need for sustained collaboration between security agencies and INEC to guarantee an atmosphere devoid of intimidation or disruption.
Commandant Bodinga assured that the NSCDC Jigawa State Command had put all necessary measures in place for comprehensive security coverage. He confirmed the massive deployment of personnel, including armed operatives, plainclothes intelligence officers, and rapid response units across strategic locations in Babura and Garki Local Government Areas.
He reiterated that the Corps will not tolerate electoral malpractice, vote buying, violence, or any act capable of undermining the democratic process. The deployment will also cover INEC offices, collation centres, polling units, and other sensitive points to ensure the safety of voters, election officials, and materials.
The meeting was attended by senior officers of the NSCDC Jigawa State Command, INEC officials, and representatives of sister security agencies.
Commandant Bodinga reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to the vision of the Commandant General, Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, in protecting lives, property, and critical national assets while upholding the tenets of democracy.
