Nigerian Navy Commissions 264 New Officers

The Nigerian Navy has reaffirmed its commitment to defending the nation’s territorial integrity with the commissioning of 264 new officers following a passing-out parade at the Nigerian Naval College in Rivers State.

The newly commissioned officers completed nine months of training under the Direct Short Service Course 29, while others underwent six months of Special Duty Pre-Commissioning Training for 2024.

The event marked a significant milestone for the cadets, who were formally commissioned as Sub-Lieutenants in a brief ceremony following the parade.

Their deployment across the country is expected to strengthen the Navy’s operations in combating insurgency, banditry, kidnapping, and maritime crimes, bolstering Nigeria’s overall security architecture.

Speaking at the ceremony, Navy officials highlighted the evolving security landscape and stressed the importance of well-trained personnel and modern equipment in tackling emerging threats.
