
Between 10th and 14th of May, 2025, the Kano State Joint Task Force Committee on Security Restoration and Youth Rehabilitation under the leadership of Dr. Yusuf Ibrahim Kofar Mata conducted targeted clearance operations in Dorayi, Ja’in, Sharada, Unguwar Dabai, Dukawa, Kabuga, Kofar Mata and Neighboring Areas.
The intelligence-led targeted operations which were conducted at criminal hideout and black spots resulted in the arrest of thirty-one (31) suspects, including twenty-five (25) suspected thugs, six (6) suspected drug dealers and recovery of the following:
i. Four (4) Dane Guns
ii. Nine (9) Knives and Cutlasses
iii. Three (3) Clubs (Gora)
iv. Three and half (3½) Parcels and wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Cannabis Sativa (Wiwi)
v. One hundred and seventy-three (173) pieces of suspected exol tablets, and other suspected intoxicants were recovered as well.
Going forward, part of the arrest include notorious thugs in Dorayi Quarters Kano, including Dan Abba, Bola, Baka Kashi, Ramos, Abba Maciji and Abdul Baki. All the twenty-five (25) suspected thugs arrested have been charged to Magistrate Court Number (16), Zangeru Road Kano and remanded, while the six (6) suspected drug dealers including one notorious Rabi’u Hamza, have been handed over to NDLEA for further investigation and prosecution. No doubt, this successful operation that led the identification and arrest of the insecurity arrowheads in Dorayi Quarters, will bring a lasting solution to the over two decades thuggery-related conflicts in their area.
The success recorded in the operations is a milestone achievement in the ongoing efforts to combat thuggery and substance abuse in Kano State.
The composition of the committee which brought together combine security agencies and Government functionaries is dedicated to sanitizing the streets of Kano and restoring peace to the communities.
