
Within the rank and file of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ishaku Musa, a Commandant of the Corps and helmsman of the Plateau State NSCDC, is regarded as one of the most efficient and skilled officers. He has consistently maintained an enviable track record over the decades.
Musa’s proficiency and dedication to duty have been evident since he assumed office as the head of the Plateau State NSCDC. His leadership is often described as “exemplary” by stakeholders, including Plateau State Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang.
Commandant Musa’s application of professionalism in the line of duty is reputed to be legendary. This has immensely endeared him to the High Command of the NSCDC, under the leadership of Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, the Commandant General.
Consistently, Musa’s work ethic serves as a reference point among state commandants, highlighting his strict adherence to the statutory responsibilities of the NSCDC. Multiple sources within Plateau State affirm that Musa enjoys the tremendous respect and confidence of Governor Mutfwang, who often describes him as a good ambassador of the NSCDC.
Beyond the governor, other security stakeholders and enthusiasts are also said to repose great confidence in Musa’s capacity and competence in security management.
Commandant Musa’s transformative initiatives across all strata of the Plateau NSCDC are a clear testament to his result-oriented leadership. In addition to the proper and efficient use of utilities at the command, the number of arrests and prosecutions—especially in the area of illegal mining—has significantly increased under his leadership.
Musa, an indigene of Takum in Taraba State, holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the University of Maiduguri, Borno State. He also possesses two master’s degrees: one in Security and Strategic Studies from the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna, and another in Peace and Conflict Resolution from Taraba State University, Jalingo.
Among other credentials, Commandant Musa is a Fellow of the National Defence College, Nigeria; a Member of the National Institute of Management; a Fellow of Disasters Management Without Borders; and a Fellow of Disaster Management and Safety Science.
