The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has sanctioned 66 personnel across various ranks for misconduct and other disciplinary offences, while confirming the approval of promotion for approximately 17,000 senior officers.
The Commandant General of the Corps, Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, disclosed this on Friday during a press conference at the NSCDC National Headquarters in Abuja. He explained that the disciplinary measures imposed on the affected personnel included dismissal, reduction in rank, suspension and formal warnings, depending on the nature and severity of their offences.
According to him, the sanctions followed the receipt of official correspondence from the Civil Defence, Corrections, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) after its meeting, during which the disciplinary recommendations submitted by the Corps were considered.Prof. Audi said the affected personnel had undergone established disciplinary procedures, including investigations and hearings before the Orderly Room and the Senior and Junior Officers’ Disciplinary Committees.
He noted that the committees carefully examined the allegations against the personnel, assessed the circumstances surrounding each case and recommended appropriate sanctions in accordance with the Corps’ disciplinary regulations. The Commandant General added that the recommendations were subsequently ratified by the Board, stressing that the NSCDC would not compromise its standards of discipline, integrity and professionalism.
In a related development, Prof. Audi confirmed that the Corps had received the list of approximately 17,000 senior officers approved for promotion, following the earlier announcement by the Ministry of Interior and the CDCFIB.He assured eligible personnel that the promotion list would be officially released and communicated to the beneficiaries in due course.
The NSCDC boss reaffirmed his administration’s determination to strengthen institutional discipline, promote professional excellence and improve operational efficiency across the Corps.
He stressed that maintaining a disciplined workforce remained essential to the effective discharge of the NSCDC’s statutory responsibilities, particularly the protection of lives and property, safeguarding of critical national assets and support for national security.
