NSCDC CG IN SOKOTO COMMAND ON OPERATIONAL TOUR TO ASSESS PERSONNEL PERFORMANCE IN THE NORTH-WEST REGION

The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, Ph.D., mni, OFR, on an operational tour of the North-West geopolitical zone, paid a strategic visit to the Sokoto State Command Headquarters. During the visit, he addressed officers and men of the Corps at the command’s parade ground.

In his address, the Commandant General expressed concern over the prevailing threats posed by asymmetric conflicts and the evolution of criminal activities including banditry, kidnapping, and the vandalism of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI), which he noted are causing a debilitating effect on Nigeria’s economy. He warned that unchecked, such security threats could significantly affect the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

Dr. Audi reaffirmed that the NSCDC, by its statutory mandate to protect Critical National Assets, is committed to tackling these threats head-on. He emphasized that the ongoing strategic operational tour is part of a broader approach to assess the performance of personnel and boost the Corps’ effectiveness in combating insurgency, crime, and criminality in Sokoto State and across the North-West.

He highlighted the importance of inter-agency synergy, stressing that collaboration, coordination, and cooperation remain key to successful operations. He referenced the ongoing Operation Fansan Yamma, a robust and aggressive campaign against banditry and kidnapping, which has recorded notable successes in Sokoto State and other parts of the region.

The Commandant General also spoke on personnel welfare, where he promised more capacity development, prompt payment of salaries and allowances, and other motivational incentives as key drivers for improved service delivery.

In a philosophical remark, he urged all public servants to discharge their responsibilities with sincerity and dedication. “Those in positions of authority should give to their servants what is due, and the servants should reciprocate with loyalty and diligence,” he said. This, he noted, promotes national cohesion, unity, and value-driven governance.

Finally, he reiterated the resolve of the NSCDC to lead the fight against insecurity, in alignment with the mandate of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR. The ongoing tour across the North-West underscores the Corps’ full commitment to assessing field operations and securing lives and properties nationwide.
