Nigerian Army, Our Source of Pride – General Irabor

source of pride to country

The immediate past Chief of Defence Staff, retired Gen. Lucky Irabor, has praised the Nigerian Army for its century-long contribution to national pride during the 2024 Army Headquarters Departments and Commands West African Social Activities (WASA) in Abuja on Saturday.

Irabor highlighted the Army’s pivotal role in historic global conflicts such as the World Wars, peacekeeping missions worldwide, and ongoing domestic security operations.

He also commended the Army’s involvement in nation-building projects, including infrastructure development like roads, bridges, schools, and medical centers.

Reflecting on the sacrifices made by military personnel, Irabor expressed gratitude to those who lost their lives in service to the nation and emphasized the importance of loyalty to the Nigerian Constitution and the President.

Irabor celebrated the cultural diversity within the Army, noting that it is a strength that has contributed to the military’s effectiveness and unity. He lauded the cultural richness showcased during the WASA event, which included ethnic displays, traditional cuisines, and tug-of-war competitions.

Irabor concluded by urging military officers and soldiers to uphold the values of the military and to continue serving the nation with dedication. He also acknowledged President Bola Tinubu’s support for improving the welfare of servicemen and their families, reinforcing the Army’s critical role in national security and civil governance.
