The Gombe State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Gyama Gwawiya, has opened up on a case of sodomy involving minors at the Gombe Mega Park.
According to Commandant Gwawiya, the suspects: Dantala Babaniya, 30; Abubakar Mohammed, 13; Victor Clement, 11; and Abdurrahman Ukasha, 11; were allegedly involved in the unnatural
The NSCDC boss narrated: “This is a case of sodomy committed at the Gombe Mega Park.
“According to the case, Dantala Babaniya is having sodomy with Abubakar Mohammed, and the said Abubakar Mohammed is also engaged in such an act with the other two.”
The Commandant assured that investigations were ongoing, and the suspects will be prosecuted accordingly.
“As at the time of this briefing, the investigation is ongoing,” Gwawiya said.
The Commandant also paraded other suspects who were apprehended following investigations into multiple incidents.
One suspect was caught vandalising the North-East Development Commission facility, and he has confessed to stealing copper wires and selling them at Mile 3, Akko L.G.A of Gombe State.
“The suspect willingly confessed that he is not a first-time offender to the facility theft in question,” Gwawiya stated.
Another suspect, Isma’il Mohammed, 19, was apprehended for vandalising aluminium power transmission cables in Kwami L.G.A. He confessed to having sold the stolen cables at Yelenguruza area, Gombe L.G.A of Gombe State.
“The suspect willingly confessed that he is not a first-time offender on the offence in question,” Gwawiya again stated.
Three suspects – Mohammed Adamu, 21; Usman Mu’azu, 17; and Alhassan Mohammed, 17 – were paraded for criminal conspiracy, trespass, and theft.
They allegedly stole a bag of maize from a house in Jekadafari Abacha Road. “As at the time of this brief, all the suspects had been successfully apprehended, and investigations are ongoing, at the end of which, the suspects would be prosecuted accordingly,” Gwawiya informed Arewa PUNCH.
Muhammad Abubakar, who is in his late 20s, was also accused of escaping from lawful custody, using criminal force, and theft. He allegedly broke out of the state command detention facility in 2023 while being investigated for unnatural offences and same-sex marriage. “Investigation is still ongoing to fish out those behind the act and bring them to book,” Gwawiya further stated.
