PSC CHAIR EXPRESSES SHOCK ON THE AVOIDABLE DEATHS IN PETROL TANKER EXPOLOSION AT DIKKO JUNCTION, CALLS FOR AN IMPROVED ROAD SAFETY MECHANISM

The Chairman of the Police Service Commission, DIG Hashimu Argungu rtd mni, has expressed profound shock on the avoidable deaths in a petrol tanker inferno in Dikko junction, Niger State. He said the gory images of the burnt victims of the explosion was heart wrenching.

He called for an improved road safety mechanism in the country especially as it relates to the menace of trucks and fuel tankers on our roads.

DIG Argungu said road safety should be as important as the air we breathe, and that those charged with this responsibility should be alive to their duties.

He commiserated with the Government and people of Niger State on this unfortunate development and prayed for the repose of the souls of the dead.

He also condoled the families of other persons who might have been affected by the fire incident, such as street traders along the Dikko junction and travellers who might have been caught up with the explosion.

The PSC Chairman also prayed that God should spare our nation of such calamities.
