The Controller-General of the Federal Fire Service, Samuel Adeyemi Olumode, is expected to deliver a major address on fire prevention, emergency response, and national safety management at the 2026 People’s Security Monitor (PSM) Security Conference and Awards Summit scheduled to hold in Abuja.
The Federal Fire Service is also expected to receive institutional recognition at the summit in acknowledgment of its critical role in safeguarding lives, protecting property, and strengthening Nigeria’s emergency preparedness architecture. The honour reflects the growing importance of fire safety and disaster management in sustaining national economic stability and public security.
According to the organisers, the recognition is anchored on the Service’s sustained efforts in fire prevention, rapid response operations, safety inspections, and public enlightenment campaigns that have significantly reduced fire-related losses across public and private infrastructure. The agency’s expanding role in disaster risk reduction and emergency coordination was also highlighted as central to national resilience.
The organisers further commended the leadership of the Controller-General, noting that his tenure has strengthened institutional capacity, improved operational readiness, and enhanced inter-agency collaboration in emergency and safety management. His reforms were described as instrumental in repositioning the Federal Fire Service as a more proactive and technology-driven emergency response institution.
Under his leadership, the Service has intensified efforts in fire risk assessment, urban safety monitoring, and stakeholder engagement, particularly in high-risk sectors such as markets, industrial zones, and public facilities. These interventions, according to stakeholders, have contributed significantly to protecting economic assets and ensuring continuity of commercial activities nationwide.
The 2026 PSM Security Conference and Awards Summit will convene senior government officials, security and emergency management chiefs, policymakers, traditional rulers, diplomats, and development experts. The event is scheduled for Thursday, June 4, 2026, at 10:00am at the Auditorium of the Nigeria National Merit Award House, Maitama, Abuja, with General Christopher Musa (Rtd), Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, expected as chief guest speaker.
Organisers stated that the summit will feature high-level policy discussions on security, fire and emergency management, economic stability, goodwill messages, presentation of strategic publications, and conferment of awards on individuals and institutions contributing to national safety and development.
