The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Gombe State Command, has implemented comprehensive security arrangements for the Eid-el-Sallah celebration with the deployment of 720 officers and men across the state.
The State Commandant, Commandant Jibrin Idris, disclosed this while announcing the operational plan, noting that the deployment is intended to ensure a peaceful, hitch-free celebration and maintain law and order before, during, and after the festivities.
He stated that the Corps remains firmly committed to its constitutional mandate of safeguarding lives, property, and critical national assets. According to him, personnel have been mobilised to ensure visibility, proactive engagement, and rapid response across all parts of the state.
“For this Sallah period, our officers are fully deployed across Gombe State to prevent any threat to peace and security. We are adequately prepared to respond swiftly to any situation and ensure that residents enjoy a safe celebration,” he said.
He further explained that operatives have been strategically positioned across all 11 Local Government Areas, with heightened presence at Eid prayer grounds, the Emir’s Palace, major highways, markets, motor parks, recreational centres, worship centres, shopping malls, and other locations expected to attract large gatherings.
To enhance operational effectiveness, the Command has deployed specialised units, including the Counter-Terrorism Unit, Anti-Vandal Squad, Disaster Management Unit, Rapid Response Squad, Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosives (CBRNE) Unit, and the Intelligence and Investigation Department.
In addition, surveillance and patrol activities have been intensified around critical national assets and infrastructure to prevent vandalism, theft, and other criminal activities that typically increase during festive periods.
Commandant Idris emphasised that the deployment was intelligence-driven and aligned with directives from the Commandant General of the NSCDC, Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, to ensure a safe environment for all Nigerians during the celebration.
He urged residents of Gombe State to cooperate with security personnel, adhere to safety and traffic regulations, avoid overcrowding, and promptly report any suspicious movements or individuals to the nearest NSCDC office.
He reiterated that security remains a shared responsibility, stressing that timely public information is critical to preventing incidents and ensuring effective response by security agencies.
Commandant Idris also extended warm greetings to the Muslim Ummah in Gombe State, encouraging them to use the Sallah period to pray for peace, unity, and continued progress of the state and the nation.
