Federal Fire Service Expands National Safety Network with New Metropolitan Fire Station in Ado Ekiti

The Federal Fire Service has strengthened Nigeria’s emergency response framework with the formal takeover of a newly constructed Metropolitan Fire Station in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State. The development reflects the Service’s expanding operational reach and its continued commitment to enhancing public safety in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The modern facility, strategically located along New Iyin Road, near the Central Bank of Nigeria, was officially handed over by ASHFARD Nigeria Limited to the Federal Fire Service. This milestone forms part of the Service’s broader modernisation initiative under the leadership of the Controller General, Olumode Samuel Adeyemi.
A delegation from the Federal Fire Service Headquarters, Abuja, led by Engr. Adeniyi Oluwaseyi of the Engineering and Project Services Department, was mandated by the Controller General to oversee and formalise the handover. The delegation described the project as a clear demonstration of purposeful leadership and a commitment to strengthening fire safety infrastructure nationwide.
Completed within schedule, the Metropolitan Fire Station is designed as a modern emergency response hub to meet the demands of a growing urban population. Its integration into the national network of fire stations enhances the Service’s strategic presence in metropolitan areas, ensuring faster and more effective emergency response in densely populated and rapidly developing communities.
Speaking at the event on behalf of the Controller General, the Ekiti State Controller of the Federal Fire Service, DCF O. J. Olatunji, described the project as a significant milestone in the Service’s ongoing reform efforts. He noted that the establishment of the station represents a deliberate investment in safety infrastructure aimed at strengthening national capacity for fire prevention and emergency response.
He further conveyed the Controller General’s assurance that the facility will improve operational readiness, reduce response time, and enhance personnel efficiency, while reaffirming the Service’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property nationwide. He also stressed the importance of maintaining the facility to ensure its durability and sustained value.
The Controller General, through his representative, aligned the achievement with the broader development agenda of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that the Renewed Hope Agenda continues to drive infrastructure growth across critical sectors. He also commended the Honourable Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, for his reform driven leadership, which has enhanced the performance and service delivery of the Ministry and its agencies.
