Defence Minister Hosts Education Stakeholders Meeting at Ministry of Defence


The Honourable Minister of Defence, Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd), OFR, convened a high-level meeting with key education stakeholders from the Nigerian Armed Forces on Tuesday, 24th March 2026, at his office in the Ministry of Defence, Abuja.
The meeting brought together the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, Richard Pheelangwa, the Director of Education, Ministry of Defence, the Director of Education, Defence Headquarters, the Commander of the Nigerian Army Education Corps, as well as the Directors of Education of the Nigerian Navy and Nigerian Air Force. The session focused on strategies for strengthening educational programs and policies within the armed forces.
During the meeting, stakeholders discussed collaborative initiatives aimed at improving academic standards, training frameworks, and professional development for personnel across all branches of the military. Emphasis was placed on aligning military education with national educational objectives while ensuring operational readiness.
The Honourable Minister highlighted the critical role of education in enhancing the professionalism, discipline, and effectiveness of defence personnel. He also encouraged greater inter-service collaboration and innovative approaches to curriculum development within the military education system.
Officials present underscored the importance of ongoing monitoring and evaluation to ensure the successful implementation of education policies. The session concluded with a commitment to continuous engagement between the Ministry and the education directors of the armed forces to foster growth and excellence in military education.
