The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, on Monday paid a working visit to Kwara State, where he met with the State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, to discuss strategies for improving security and strengthening cooperation between the police and the state government.
Speaking with journalists after the meeting, the police chief explained that the visit was part of ongoing operational efforts aimed at enhancing public safety and reinforcing policing activities in the state. He noted that the engagement with the governor formed part of broader consultations with key stakeholders on security issues.
Disu recalled that he had recently led a special police task force involved in clearance operations across parts of the state. According to him, that earlier assignment gave him firsthand knowledge of the security challenges facing the area, as well as the progress already made in tackling criminal activities.
The IGP assured residents of Kwara State and Nigerians at large that the Nigeria Police Force remains committed to meeting the expectations of citizens by maintaining law and order. He emphasized that the Force is determined to strengthen its response to security threats and prevent any breakdown of public peace.
The Inspector-General was accompanied on the visit by several senior security officials, including the Commissioner of Police in the state, Adekimi Ojo, and the Director of the Department of State Services in Kwara, Michael Oganwu.
