The Controller General of the Federal Fire Service, Samuel Adeyemi Olumode, has stated that the Service has been repositioned to effectively meet the yearnings of Nigerians through comprehensive reforms and improved operational capacity.
CG Olumode made this known during his engagement with the Chief Operating Officer/Editor in Chief of People’s Security Monitor, Isiaka Mustapha, at the Federal Fire Service Headquarters in Abuja this afternoon. He explained that the transformation within the Service is deliberate and aimed at strengthening fire prevention, emergency response, and overall public safety across the country.
According to him, the Federal Fire Service has made remarkable progress in personnel training, acquisition of modern firefighting equipment, and enhancement of rapid response strategies to better protect lives and property. He noted that professionalism, discipline, and efficiency now define the operational focus of the Service.
The Controller General further stated that the repositioning effort includes expanding the operational reach of the Service to ensure improved coverage nationwide. He emphasised that many communities that previously had limited access to emergency services are now being integrated into the response framework.
He also highlighted the importance of collaboration, stressing that partnerships with state governments, private organisations, and other emergency agencies have strengthened the capacity of the Service to respond effectively to fire incidents and related emergencies.
Speaking during the engagement, CG Olumode underscored the renewed focus on public enlightenment campaigns, noting that prevention remains a core mandate of the Service. He said sustained fire safety awareness programmes are being implemented to reduce avoidable incidents and safeguard communities.
He expressed appreciation to People’s Security Monitor for its commitment to security reporting and constructive engagement. CG Olumode reaffirmed that the Federal Fire Service remains committed to transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement in order to deliver quality service that meets the expectations of Nigerians.
