How Federal Fire Service Operatives Extinguished Fire at Murtala Muhammed Airport Old Terminal


The Federal Fire Service has successfully extinguished a fire outbreak at the Old Terminal of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos State. The swift response of operatives helped to prevent the spread of the fire to adjoining sections of the terminal.
The incident occurred at about 3:30 pm, prompting the immediate deployment of operational personnel from the Ebute Metta Fire Station under the Lagos State Command. On arrival, firefighters swiftly assessed the situation and commenced intensive firefighting operations to contain the blaze.
Our operatives worked professionally and efficiently, applying strategic firefighting techniques and equipment to bring the situation under control within a short period. Their timely intervention ensured that the fire was confined to the affected area.
The Federal Fire Service collaborated closely with other emergency responders, including the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria and the Lagos State Fire Service, to ensure a coordinated and effective response.
We are pleased to confirm that no loss of life was recorded, and normalcy is gradually being restored at the terminal. An assessment of the affected area is ongoing to determine the extent of damage.
