Gold medalists from the tug of war event at the BIPOGA 2026 Games on Thursday presented their medal to the Controller-General of the Federal Fire Service (FFS), CGF Olumode Samuel Adeyemi, at the Service’s National Headquarters in Abuja.
The victorious team paid the courtesy visit as part of activities celebrating their outstanding performance at the just-concluded games. Leading the delegation was the Service’s Sports Director, CSF Victor Uniofin, who formally handed over the gold medal on behalf of the athletes.
In addition to the gold medal, the team also presented silver and bronze medals secured in the 4×100 metres relay event. They further displayed a basketball trophy, other sports equipment, and a cash prize of ₦300,000 won during the competition. Notably, the female basketball team earned qualification to participate in the Nigeria Basketball League, marking another milestone for the Service.
Representing the Controller-General at the ceremony, the Deputy Controller-General in charge of Administration and Supply, Aliyu Tanbari, commended the athletes for their dedication, discipline, and teamwork. He described their achievements as a source of pride for the Service and an inspiration to other personnel.
Tanbari assured the teams of the management’s continued support, particularly in upgrading sports facilities and encouraging active participation in sporting activities as part of efforts to promote fitness, unity, and morale within the Service.
