Federal Fire Service Taraba Command Saves Property Worth ₦600 Million in Jalingo Fire Incident


The Federal Fire Service, Taraba State Command, under the leadership of Acting State Controller ACF Yakubu Samson Dungus MIDRMSS, promptly responded to a fire outbreak at Mobile Link Abuja Phase One in Jalingo. The distress call was received at about 4:04 pm on 26 February 2026 from Mr Sunday Emmanuel.
Firefighters led by ASFII Gajere Usman, with Appliance FFS 206 driven by ASFII Muazu Bako Danburam, arrived at the scene to find a one storey building engulfed in flames. The ground floor of the building was used for carpentry work, while the upper floor served as a venue for church fellowship activities. The building covered an estimated area of 60 by 30 metres. The suspected cause of the fire was an electric power surge.
The crew immediately commenced firefighting operations using a medium jet of water from Appliance FFS 206. Their swift action was reinforced by support from the Taraba State Fire Service, which deployed Appliance Reg TR 08 from the State Headquarters Station, Jalingo. Personnel of the Department of State Services also provided security and ensured safety at the scene.
Through coordinated efforts and professional expertise, the fire was successfully extinguished and prevented from spreading to nearby structures. Property valued at approximately ₦600 million was saved, while losses were estimated at about ₦2 million.
No casualties were recorded during the incident. After ensuring the fire was completely put out and the area secured, personnel and equipment safely returned to the station at about 5:30 pm.
