The Federal Fire Service (FFS), Kaduna State Command, has intensified its public safety campaign by warning residents against the dangerous practice of fuel scooping and educating worshippers on basic fire prevention measures across the state.
As part of its statutory responsibility for public awareness and public safety, the Public Relations Unit of the Command, led by the Head of Unit, Deputy Superintendent of Fire (DSF) T. S. Akanji, on Thursday conducted a fire safety awareness exercise at two major places of worship in Kaduna metropolis. The outreach covered Living Faith Church, Barnawa, and Masjidu Sahaba Jumu’ah Mosque, Sheikh Abubakar Gumi Market.
The exercise was designed to take vital fire safety messages beyond social media platforms to the grassroots, with emphasis on preventing fire outbreaks and highlighting the grave dangers associated with tanker accidents and the scooping of fuel during such incidents.
During the engagement, officers of the Public Relations Unit delivered brief but informative lectures, explaining practical fire prevention tips and the life-threatening risks of fuel scooping. They also demonstrated essential safety precautions that members of the public can adopt to reduce fire hazards in their homes and communities.
The Federal Fire Service reiterated its commitment to continuous public enlightenment and urged residents to promptly report fire incidents and adhere strictly to safety guidelines in order to protect lives and property.
